In Genesis 1:29, God gave Adam and Eve their original diet: "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food." This was a plant-based diet consisting of fruits, grains, nuts, and seeds. There was no meat, no dairy, no processed foods. This was God's perfect plan for human nutrition. After sin entered the world, God added vegetables to the diet (Genesis 3:18). After the flood, when all vegetation was destroyed, God permitted meat eating (Genesis 9:3), but with restrictions - no blood and no unclean animals (Leviticus 11). However, God's ideal has never changed. Daniel and his friends proved the superiority of a plant-based diet in Daniel 1:8-16. After just 10 days on a diet of vegetables and water, they were healthier than those eating the king's rich foods. Modern science confirms what the Bible has always taught: - Plant-based diets reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity - They provide all necessary nutrients when properly planned - They promote longevity and quality of life - They are better for the environment The Bible also warns against unclean meats (Leviticus 11, Deuteronomy 14). Pork, shellfish, and scavenger animals were never intended for human consumption. These animals are the "garbage collectors" of nature and contain toxins and parasites harmful to human health. God's dietary laws are not arbitrary - they are based on His knowledge of what is best for our bodies. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we should honor God with what we eat. While salvation is not dependent on diet, our health affects our ability to serve God and think clearly. A healthy body supports a healthy mind and spirit. Consider returning to God's original diet plan. Your body will thank you, and you'll have more energy to serve God and share His truth with others.
